His work doesn't really need an explanation. He likes to work in series and around simple themes such as the hat or the chair. His painting and drawing style refers to comics, cartoons and sometimes Keith Haring. What Bruneau creates is never gloomy or negativistic. As a painter he looks for a positive note everywhere. Humor is never far away. Sometimes he draws more than he paints. Accurate and sharp. He changes, paints over, works in layers. Uses text, strikes through text, overwrites.
