This year we celebrate the 100th anniversary of the birth of the painter! Artist's proof with Atelier Corneille stamp on the back - Signed and dated in graphite by the artist's hand Dimensions: 50 x 65 cm - Work from 1987 Very good condition - Secure shipping with UPS insurance Provenance: Workshop of the painter Guillaume Corneille (1922-2010), born in Liège to Dutch parents, founding member of the Cobra group, with Karel Appel, Constant, Dotremont, Asger Jorn, Joseph Noiret, and later Alechinsky or Lucebert. Large lithograph from the series "Les Tigres Amoureux" where Corneille in the wake of Gauguin or Van Gogh creates a jovial and colorful work, celebrating summer and harmony with nature. The tiger symbolizes for the traveling painter a taste for exoticism and a change of scenery. The female nude, a sort of Olympia with round shapes, gives the image a striking appearance.
