Peter Goes (Ghent, 1968) is a Belgian author and illustrator of children's books. He studied animation at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts (KASK) in Ghent. His drawings are described as colorful, with an eye for detail and dynamics; the background is usually one color, while the cartoonish figures are often black, sometimes with one or two color accents.
Career
After his studies he worked as a stage manager and technical director. In 1999 he started drawing again.
Since then he has illustrated children's books and also made illustrations for exhibitions and companies. For the tea brand Yugen Kombucha he made the artwork for one of the drinks; the city of Ghent asked him for several assignments, such as a child-friendly map of the surroundings at the Rabot and drawings for the Krook. He designed the logo and several vignettes for Weekendavisen, a Danish newspaper. He also worked for Sarah Lee (brand owner of Douwe Egberts) and for the World Health Organization.
Some of his books have been translated; Timeline was published in 24 languages, including Italian and English. Rivers exists in 11 languages and Feast for Finn has been translated 10 times.
He also illustrated the Ketnet joke books.
