Walter Swennen (1946) is active as a poet and painter.
In his work, the interaction between word and image comes to the fore several times.
Swennen is a pioneer of the so-called 'new painting' from the 1980s.
His painted images give the impression of being a precise pictorial treatment of ideas that could also have been worked out in a text.
Walter Swennen's work can be seen in the S.M.A.K., and in his gallery Xavier Hufkens.
This numbered and signed work by Walter Swennen was his contribution to the "Museum to scale" exhibition by Ronny Van de Velde in 2013.
