Reichstag

Photo edition by Christo & Jeanne-Claude. Hand signed with marker by Christo & Jeanne-Claude. The "Packed Reichstag Building" in Berlin was a temporary art project realized by the artist duo Christo and Jeanne-Claude. The project took place from June 24 to July 7, 1995 and involved the complete wrapping of the Reichstag building in Berlin, a historic and symbolic building in Germany. Christo and Jeanne-Claude used approximately one million square feet of silver fabric to wrap the building, along with a mile of blue rope. The aim of the project was to transform and accentuate the Reichstag building, while temporarily changing its architecture and political significance. The project was a huge spectacle and attracted a lot of attention and visitors. Wrapping up the Reichstag building was emblematic of the works of Christo and Jeanne-Claude, who were known for large-scale installation art that changed the environment and the way people perceive their surroundings. The project was considered a high point in their career and remains an important moment in the history of contemporary art. The Reichstag building was of course unveiled again after the project, but it remains an iconic reminder of the creative vision of Christo and Jeanne-Claude.
