Expressionist Figure - Extraordinary watercolor painting by Polish artist Jörg Remé on which he painted his famous figure/muse. Underneath the work itself Remé has written a personal message to (probably) Dutch writer, journalist and publisher Wim Simons in pencil: 'For Wim Simons. Warmly Jörg Remé 1993.' The work is framed in a 3D list with passe-partout. As a young artist, JÖRG REMÉ (1941, Danzig, Poland) wanted to find his own, completely different painting style from his avant-garde contemporaries. In 1968 he found his own unique, symbolic figure, his muse, which can be found in all his works. Remé is seen as part of the Metaphysicals, Futurists, Cubists, and later the Neo-Expressionists, the 'Neue Wilde' and the Postmodernists. He lives in both Amsterdam and Venice. In 2009 he received the Dutch Knighthood in the Order of Orange-Nassau. His works are part of collections of well-known museums such as Booymans-van Beuningen in Rotterdam, Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, Gemeentemuseum Arnhem, Museum von Moderne Kunst in Strassburg and the Kunsthalle in Nuremberg.
