MARTIN VAN WORDRAGEN was a famous Dutch painter, born in 1928 in Ammerzoden, Holland. He was part of the Cobra-movement and the Flamish Expressionists. He has had exhibitions together with artists as Karel Appel, Corneille, Lucebert and Pierre Alechinsky, mostly in Holland, Belgium and Germany. In 1948, when Holland celebrated the inauguration of Queen Juliana, Martin received the honorable commission to paint a meter-high portrait of the new queen, which jump-started his career and made him well-known in Holland and abroad.
