'Birdsong To A Minstrel Calling' was such a piece. The Bird was chiseled and ground out first. As I was working on it I could see that it was possible to make the shape being formed into a musical note. Then, as if by magic, the lute appeared to form in the marble making the sculpture come full circle - bird, quaver and lute. The bird is singing a wonderful song; the minstrel is listening.
