Takashi Murakami (村上 隆, Murakami Takashi; Itabashi, Tokyo, February 1, 1962) is a Japanese artist who works in traditional media such as painting, as well as in new, digital and commercial media. He tries to blur the boundaries between manga higher and manga lower art and is seen as one of the founders of the Superflat style. This style is characterized by large uniform areas of color and figures inspired by anime and manga. In 2008, Takashi Murakami was named in Time magazine's list of 100 most influential people. He was the only visual artist to appear in it. Since 2003 he has worked with Marc Jacobs for Louis Vuitton. (source: wikipedia)
