Marcel De Maeyer (Sint-Niklaas, 23 July 1920 – Ghent, 6 October 2018) was a Belgian curator, professor of art history and painter. He was an important representative of contemporary Flemish painting. Under the name Marcel Maeyer, he is mainly known for his hyper-realistic work. On September 19, 1950, he married Gabriella (Bieke) De Beul; together they had a son and a daughter. Marcel Maeyer lived and painted in Sint-Martens-Latem.
