Karin Borghouts (1959) is an art and documentary photographer.
She mainly photographs places; architectural spaces, interiors, city views, museums and buildings. Her work positions itself between photography and visual art and is rich in references to painting.
Karin Borghouts has more than 50 group and solo exhibitions at her home and abroad. Her carefully thought-out photographs can be found in the collections of the Fotomuseum and the MAS in Antwerp, among others
This work by Karin Borghouts is a 3D construction or "puzzle" that simulates the effect of a 35mm lens. The theme for her contribution to exhibition "Museum to Scale" is "to show or not to show".
The photo on the left shows the packaged Rubens paintings during the renovation of the Royal Museum of Fine Art Antwerp and the checkered floor is a reference to the tile floors in the paintings of the Flemish Primitives.
This work is part of a special edition of 75 1/7 scale reproductions of the "Museum to Scale" exhibition from 2013.
