Artist's copy 4/30 with Atelier Corneille stamp on back. Beautiful silkscreen print created for a music festival. Falstaff is an opera buffa in three acts by Giuseppe Verdi, to a libretto by Arrigo Boito, based on Shakespeare's The Merry Wives of Windsor and Henry IV Parts I and II, first performed at La Scala in Milan on 9 February 1893 and at the Opéra-Comique in Paris on 18 April 1894. It was the last opera created by the composer, who was 80 years old at the time. The plump character inspired a fine interpretation by Orson Welles in one of his films. Signed, titled and dated by the painter in graphite at the bottom. Dimensions inside the passe partout: 53 x 42 cm. Total dimensions: 89.5 x 76.5 cm. The frame was made by the painter 30 years ago and shows some wear. Secure shipping in a cardboard box by UPS. Guillaume Corneille retrospective in Belgium in 2024!
