Sculpture in silver-plated bronze Bronze, silver plating (10 microns), fine gold gilding, varnish finish, synthetic blue spinel eyes. Presented on a bluestone base 1Kg 850 Numbered EA II/IV Dimensions: 19 x 20 x 6 cm Sculpture delivered with a certificate of authenticity from the Fondation Guillaume Corneille Like Picasso, who had his own fetish animals (the bull, his dog Lump and the goat), Guillaume Corneille created a vast bestiary with countless cats and birds, not forgetting the animals in the "Images de Bętes" series (1986): with the hen, the horse, and so on. Here, the painter has imagined a dynamic sculpture: the cat is captured in motion, one paw slightly forward, seemingly ready to pounce. Whether seen from above, in front or in profile, the sculpture reveals a rare perfection of form and curved lines. The feline's back is covered in gold, as are parts of its head and tail. The result is a masterpiece. It's a universal cat and at the same time the artist's own mischievous, personal cat. Based on a project and mould by Guillaume Corneille Produced by the Atelier Mertens and the Harzé art foundry with the agreement of the Fondation Guillaume Corneille and Schana B Gallery.
