The female figures are often dreamy, immobilised in a suspended time, close to Cézanne's nudes. Guillaume Corneille (1922-2010) was born in Liège of Dutch parents and was a member of the Cobra group along with Constant, Dotremont, Karel Appel, Asger Jorn, Noiret, Doucet and Alechinsky.
