This year we celebrate the 100th anniversary of the birth of the painter! Attention: one of our last copies! Artwork soon to be definitively sold out at our gallery! A bird flies over African lands accompanied by an insect, straight from the painter's Cobra period. Traveling artist, Guillaume Corneille made in 1999 a nod to his beginnings. His passion for Africa awakens very early in the 1940s when he decides to reproduce Paul Klee's trip to Tunisia. Fascinated by the readings of Levi-Strauss and the first cinematographic reports on Africa, Guillaume Corneille and his first wife Henny Riemens embarked in 1956 on the crazy project of crossing the continent in a jeep to be in total immersion with the different ethnic groups and landscapes. It was after the disappearance of his first wife that he decided to return one last time to Africa. The work "The bird born from the landscape" follows this trip. Large work: 55.5 x 67.5 cm. Signed and dated by the hand of the artist - Numbered E/A - Stamp Atelier Corneille on the back Original lithograph by the painter Guillaume Corneille (1922-2010) born in Liège to Dutch parents and founding member of the Cobra group.
