William Sweetlove was born in 1949 in Ostend, Belgium. Since 2001 he has been a member of the artists' collective "The Cracking Art Group" in Northern Italy. As a physical medium for the basis of his artworks, he uses a type of plastic and polyester, produced through a thermo-chemical reaction in crude oil. This reaction, known as "cracking" is the origin of the name Cracking art group. He spreads a vision of the world suffused with elements of irony and ecological consciousness. His paintings, sculptures and assemblages are his impressions of the existence of reproduced materials such as polyester, animal skins and textiles.
